Dani DaOrtiz is back, and this time, you don’t have a choice because this project is all about card Forces. There’s no one who makes a card selection feel more honest and fair than Dani DaOrtiz. In this year-long project Dani will share with you his favorite methods, principles, and techniques to get your audience to take exactly the card you want.
The What
Dani kicks things off by showing you an amazing card location effect called Symbiosis. The deck is handed out to the audience and thoroughly shuffled. One spectator takes a packet of cards from anywhere they want in the deck and thinks of any card in the packet. The packet is mixed back into the deck. Another spectator takes the deck, deals the cards face up onto the table, and stops dealing whenever they want. The value of the card they stopped at is noted, and that number of cards is dealt onto the table. The final card dealt, incredibly, is the exact card the first spectator was merely thinking of.
The How
As soon as you have seen the effect Dani teaches you the bare-bones explanation of what’s going on so you can start practicing immediately. This force flies under the radar using a clever shuffling sequence that hides in plain sight. You’ll learn how to hide a card stack that looks like the audience has shuffled the entire deck but gives you the secret ability to force a card in a known position that feels like your audience can deal to whatever card they want. The truth is that they are under your control the entire time.
The Why
Here is where the incredible techniques of Dani DaOrtiz get married to his FISM-winning philosophy. This section is a detailed breakdown of concepts that will take your magic to the next level. In this chapter Dani explores exploiting your and your audience member’s muscle memory to make your force look effortless. Sequence forcing has been a closely guarded secret in the Spanish school of magic for years, and now Dani is sharing how he uses it to gain control of a spectator’s actions while never touching the deck. These concepts are combined with Dani’s Transitional Block. This is a clever way to make the audience feel like they have handled the entire deck, using transitional actions and scripting to guide their actions. It’s a brilliant concept that you can apply to the rest of your card magic, making it more diabolical than ever.
The Force Project is a year-long course in learning to make your spectators believe their selections are fair even though you have total control. Jump into the third lesson, where one spectator apparently freely deals to a genuinely freely thought-of card. Welcome to The Force Project with Dani DaOrtiz.
