Dani DaOrtiz is back; this time, you don’t have a choice because this project is all about card Forces. There’s no one who makes a card selection feel more honest and fair than Dani DaOrtiz. In this year-long project Dani will share with you his favorite methods, principles, and techniques to get your audience to take exactly the card you want.
The What
Things kick off with an immediate performance of an astonishing effect. Two spectators are asked to think of playing cards. The deck is passed out in small groups to spectators around the table and they shuffle their packets. The magician counts to three, and different spectators race to see who can put their packet onto the table first. Every time there are two packets on the table, they are shuffled together, and a spectator squares them up. Finally, when the deck has been reassembled and the cards are thoroughly mixed, the first spectator names their card. The magician shows the top card is not the one they are thinking of. With a magical gesture, the top card suddenly becomes the named card. The second spectator names their card, and just as impossibly, it rises to the top as well.
The How
As soon as you see the effect, Dani will teach you the bare bones so you can start practicing immediately. This is great for getting a jump start on the learning process and is also perfect if you want to go back to the material to jog your memory. In this lesson, you are learning two forces for the price of one. The first force is one where separate spectators think of a value and a suit, but they think of the precise value you want them to. The second force is in the shuffling sequence. A ritual shuffle that places cards exactly where you want them while giving your audience the feeling of making all the choices. Both are diabolical.
The Why
Every lesson features a detailed explanation of how Dani’s tricks work, but the real work in the psychology and deep thinking that makes these card effects miracles. You’ll be exposed to concepts like The Closing Door. A method of making it seem as if the spectator has infinite choices, even though you are secretly limiting their selections. You will also learn to manipulate the order of importance of actions so that what seems like an example question becomes critical to the method of the effect. With Dani’s guidance, you’ll be able to hide these bold verbal moves in plain sight. In addition to these powerful concepts, you’ll learn to use a type of stacked deck that gives you the ability to do a hands-off force of a value that’s impossible for magicians and lay people alike to back track.
The Force Project is a year-long course in learning to make your spectators believe their selections are fair even though you have total control. You’ll rave over this sixth lesson, where you can impossibly make two thought-of cards rise to the top of the deck with minimal sleight of hand! Welcome to The Force Project with Dani DaOrtiz.
