This is The MAGIC SHARPIE Gaff Card, printed in every deck of PURPLE BANGERS Playing Cards. This standard 9 of CLUBS has a back design that looks like an unrolled Sharpie Pen, so that the Magician can roll it up, put a Sharpie lid on top, and it will look just like a Sharpie! The Gaff also reveals the 9 of CLUBS where it would usually say ‘Sharpie.’
Within his performance, the Magician has had a few different card signed with a Sharpie by his participants. In Magic, the Sharpie is commonly known as a ‘Magic Wand’ due to the fact that every Magician carries one for this very reason! After a card has been signed and the next trick begins, the Magician invites the participant to sung the back of their selected card - The 9 of CLUBS - when the participant takes the lid of of the Sharpie, there is a moment of confusion as they realise that they are not holding a Sharpie. They see the 9 of CLUBS revealed on the side of the ‘pen’ but further shock follows as they realise that it is not a pen, but a rolled-up playing card, their very selected 9 of CLUBS! What they thought to be their card is then revealed to be a joker ( or a previously signed card ) and the 9 of CLUBS is nowhere to be found in the deck.
In this 40-minute workshop, Madison teaches absolutely everything that you need to know to master this effect, which offers many different performance opportunities to fit in with every Magicians performance style. You can watch Madison performing this trick a few times in ‘The DECEPTION ARTIST’…
